Venue Highlights

The Dinner Special is a fully catered wine and dine trip on Australia's favourite steam train Puffing Billy. Guests travel in our fully enclosed "Mount Lyell" carriages which have been beautifully restored for your commfort. The train departs from our Belgrave Puffing Billy station at 7.30pm on Friday and 7.00pm on Saturday nights. During the journey to the Nobelius Nursery Packing Shed in Emerald, savouries and complimentary pre-dinner drinks of wine, beers and soft drinks are served. When our train arrives at the Packing Shed, passengers are shown to their table by the railway’s friendly staff where a 3 course hot carvery meal is served. Drinks can be purchased at the Packing Shed and our entertainer provides a backdrop of Australian and international music. Departure time is 10.45pm.

Location

Puffing Billy Railway is located at Belgrave which is 40 kms east of Melbourne (1 hour) along the Burwood Highway. Melway map reference is 75 F10. Car parking is available in the Connext car park.

Catering Information

Served during the journey;
Selection of Assorted Dips served with Celery and Carrot Sticks and Cracker Biscuits, Black Olives, Dried Apricots, Ribbon Sandwiches, Asparagus Rolls.

Served at the Nobelius Packing Shed
Creme of Pumpkin or Homemade Thick Vegetable Soup served with dinner rolls and fresh Home Baked Breads. The main course consists of Prime Roast Beef with Horseradish Relish, Baked Ham on the Bone with Mustard, Marinated Chicken Pieces
with Golden Roast Potatoes, Honey-glazed Carrots, Minted Garden Peas, and a Tossed Salad.
Desserts are; Raspberry Pavlova Roulade, Homemade Swiss Apple Strudel, cheesecake.

Served during the return train journey is Coffee or tea, Cheese Platters with Greens and Biscuits with complimentary glass of Port and dinner chocolates

For charter groups we can arrange white boards, PA system etc to enhance your night.

Additional Information

Charter dinner trains are available for groups of 60 or more passengers up to a comfortable 90 passengers.
We have special "theme" nights throughour the year such as Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day and our popular mid year Christmas nights :Jingle Bells in June and July".
