Venue Highlights

On entering The Independent ("Independent") you step in to a foyer that has been fully restored to it's former glory, when for a quarter of a century it was part of Sydney's theatre culture. The main lobby, and bar area are perfect for corporate client entertainment or private parties.

A $1m refurbishment program to install a magnificent blackwood motorised stage, state of the art sound throughout and technical facilities to ensure a seamless presentation with professional staff on hand to create the perfect event.


On the upper level the Seaborn Room with its high ceiling, antique chandelier and beautiful stained glass window overlooking Miller Street is a versatile space, perfect for both corporate training, seminars and private events, cocktail parties or recitals.

Location

Situated at 269 Miller Street, North Sydney opposite Stanton Library, between Ridge and McLaren Streets. A Council car park in Ridge Street currently offers early bird parking for entry beween 9.30am and departure after 3.30pm. Eight hour meter parking is available in Ridge Street at a cost of $2.20 per hour.

Public transport buses stop opposite the Theatre from North Sydney Station, Mosman, Netural Bay, Cammeray or Northbridge.

Catering Information

The Independent provides excellent catering for corporate entertainment, dinner parties, cocktail functions or casual gatherings. Menus can be supplied on request.

Fully equipped stage lighting and sound, standard microphone with stand and lecturn (specifications on application) included in hire cost.

Additional equipment for Conferences and events available for hire. (specifications and costs on application). Including data projector, screen, VHS, DVD, Audio system, Wireless microphones, and portable sound system.
