Venue Highlights
The Port of Brisbane Visitors Centre is located at the heart of Australias fastest-growing container port. Opened in 2001, the Centre sits on the shore of a four-hectare lake and boasts state-of-the-art conferencing facilities, including a 100-seat auditorium, meeting/function room and boardroom. Visitors can explore the Centres interpretative displays, take a port tour or dine in the Eco Café or On the Lake Restaurant.
Location
The Visitors Centre is located on Whimbrel Street (off Lucinda Drive) at the Port of Brisbane. A public bus service is available, picking up passengers at the Wynnum Central Railway Station and stopping at various places around the port.
Catering Information
The Visitors Centre offers a selection of gourmet fare, catering for every dietary requirement.
Eco Café
Overlooking the lake, the Eco Café offers a casual bistro-style dining experience with indoor tables and a partially open deck area. The Café seats 120 guests and serves lunch from 11.30am to 3pm Sunday to Friday, and is also open for coffee and cake during Visitors Centre opening hours.
On the Lake Restaurant
For á la carte dining and a menu of innovative dishes using fresh local ingredients with an international flavour, try the On the Lake Restaurant. On the Lake seats 44 guests and serves lunch from 11.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Catering
The Visitors Centre also offers a catering service to the businesses around the port and local area.
Recreational Facilities
Visitors to the Centre can also join one of the daily Explorers Tours, to get an up close and personal view of how a modern, efficient and environmentally responsible port operates. The tours run from Sunday through to Friday. Group tours are offered free of charge to those who organise their own bus transport. School groups can now book a PortEd Tour with Education Officer, Kerrin Jackson. Kerrin can develop tours and workshops to fit with a variety of study areas. A visit to the Port of Brisbane Shorebird Roost is also a must for bird enthusiasts.
Technical Facilities
The THEATRE has state-of-the-art equipment with DVD, video, free-to-air television and data projection.
The CONFERENCE ROOMs have natural light for meetings and lunches, or can be darkened for presentations. We can cater for all your audiovisual needs.
The BOARDROOM is fully equipped with audiovisual equipment, remote control curtains and is also soundproofed, should you require a little privacy.
Business Facilities
The THEATRE is the ideal setting for training, presentations, product launches and seminars. With capacity to hold up to 100 people.
The SANDPIPER, SPOONBILL and PELICAN CONFEFRENCE ROOMS, are the most versatile, available for formal dinners, cocktail parties, conferences or meetings.
The BOARDROOM can cater for up to 16 people, if you require an exclusive dining room, the On the Lake Restaurant is right next door.
