Venue Highlights
Although remote, Cape Don is the site of a historic lighthouse built in 1916 which is still in operation today. The accommodation is within the newly renovated Head Lighthouse Keepers homestead and is fitted with modern facilities offering the charm of the past era and yet the comfort required after an exhilarating day of adventure on the waters surrounding Cape Don.
Guests at Cape Don are limited to twelve (12), at any one time and it is this exclusive access that provides the sense of unspoiled, unique wilderness.
A unique destination for pre and post conferences in Darwin or for that small conference, incentive destination, or board meeting with a difference, where team building is important and exclusive use of facilities counts.
Location
Situated on the most north west tip of Cobourg Peninsula,NT., Cape Don offers access to some of Australias most remote wilderness and unspoiled coastline. Cobourg Peninsula is 200km north east of Darwin, on the north west side of Arnhem Land and is approximately 200km north west of Kakadu National Park. Access from Darwin is by light twin engine aircraft - a 35 minutes flight over spectacular Top End coastline. Access from Kakadu National Park also available. Cape Don is surrounded by fringing reef, sandy beaches and deserted islands giving access to an ideal sport fishing environment and marine wildlife. Great destination for being one with wilderness. Catering Information
Catering is provided by our full time chef. Meals are predominently fresh (caught that day)seafood with a choice of a meat dishes each night. All desserts, pastries, bread at evening meal is home made including icecream. Fresh herbs from our own herb garden used where possible. Hors d'oeuvres usually served each evening around the spa pool after a days activities. With 10 -12 guests considered exclusive use , the catering can be tailor made to suit the occasssion. Fresh chilli mudcrabs, whole coral trout, Barramundi, salmon, tuna, oysters all available from our shores around Cape Don.
Recreational Facilities
The homestead atmosphere provided by the Cape Don Lighthouse encourages active participation in our games room, which is equipped with a pool table and dart board. Chess, backgammon and other board games also available. Included in the Cape Don price is guided boat and 4WD excursions to explore the unique pristine coastal environment around Cape Don. All fishing tackle is provided for those wanting to catch the fish of a lifetime.
Business Facilities
Catering for only a select few enables us to pre-arrange any business facilities required by a group. Although remote, Cape Don has phone and fax lines as well as internet via satelite.
