Now for the first time in New Zealand you have the opportunity to see this “Conservation in Action” first hand and up close. Take a tour of “Kiwi Encounter”, where you’ll learn about the kiwi, it’s unique and endearing characteristics, its origins, its habitat and how it lives. See how our specialist staff work with kiwi in rooms dedicated to egg preparation, incubation, hatching and raising of chicks for release back into the wild. Experience our glass-free open nocturnal house, home to three kiwi and visit the “runs” where young chicks grow before release back into the wild. Your admission helps support our conservation effort, so visit and “get closer to kiwi”.
